With the other they shall build... This shall bring upon them many enemies, but shall also bring many victories and much glory to God alone...

"Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful" St. Luke 6:36

     Jesus seems to be summing up his sermon (6:20-35) which begins with three "blessings" and four "woes". The blessings are attached to those who lack and suffer in this present world: the poor, the hungry, and those persecuted for righteousness' sake. The woes apply to the rich, the full, the merrymakers, and those who enjoy the adulation of others. It reminds me of David's hymn in 2 Samuel 22.
